Because Dan Aykroyd has a rambling, creepy, unfocused, occult/bible-salesman-ey/Indiana-Jones-exploitive sales-pitch for booze for you. You'll have to be patient though, he doesn't actually get to the product until half way through the video. I am completely transfixed and mesmerized by this - it comes across as both shameless huckster, but mixed with the heart and sincerity that only Raymond Stanz of the Ghostbusters can lend to a product. It's so diametrically at odds with it's self that I can't stop thinking about it. It also has the earmarks of Dan's last screen appearance - like a living will. Dan tells us at length about his interests in life before he sells us some overpriced crap. Like Orson Wells selling us fish sticks, Dan has now traveled down the road of full on sell-out. I really thought this was a joke, and that he'd be pulling out the Bass-o-matic or something, but no. No, Dan wants us to buy into his bizarre business venture.

I really hope Ghostbusters 3: Let's Bust Some More Ghosts (or whatever they're calling it) makes TONS of cash, and that Dan can happily live out the rest of his days hunting for ghosts of Bigfoot and finally snag that photo of Nessie piloting the spaceship that built the pyramids.

I've been so wrapped up in projects that I haven't watched much TV or read much news to see if this was a big news item. I found out about it here, at one of my favorite websites Indy Mogul. Hey readers!

I have just finished work on my latest video, which is for the Carmex Lip Balm "Share the Tingle" contest. It has been uploaded to youtube and unlike video contests of the past, the winner of this video contest will be chosen by a panel of unbiased judges - which keeps it free from the easy rigging of a "popularity" vote system. They do however factor in the STAR rating for each video and say that they will use the stars to help break a tie.

That's where you my friends and family come in. Doug's Doctor Horrible Act III Speculation and Theory Post

Hey Everybody! I'm a patient of Doctor Horrible, and I'm sure there are many others out there as well who read my Livejournal posts. With a WHOLE DAY before we discover the final fate of the Bad Doctor, I would like to open a discussion as to what people think will happen in the third and final act of our anti-hero's story.

For those of you who haven't yet seen Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, use the widget below to go to the website and see the first two acts free of charge!

From the way they've set up the story in the first two acts, I think the only way to finish the story is to see Doctor Horrible take some losses as well as gains. We know from interviews with Joss that we will see the Evil League of Evil, and that it will have an open ending - which makes me believe that Doctor Horrible will not die at the end. I have three very different theory's:

1) Doctor Horrible will attempt to kill Captain Hammer, and will accidentally kill the girl he loves. Doc is distraught but is accepted into the Evil League of Evil for his misdeeds.

2) Doctor Horrible will not succeed in killing Captain Hammer, and will be confronted by the Evil League of Evil for his failure - during which he discovers that the girl he loves is connected to the Evil League of Evil - Possibly the daughter of Bad Horse. Her plot to destroy Captain Hammer revealed, the two villains bond over their evilness.

3) Doctor Horrible will expose Captain Hammer for the jerk he is without killing him, and bonds with the girl he loves - but it ends with a confrontation with the Evil League of Evil.

On a side note, I really hope that Bad Horse is an actual horse that communicates through singing cowboys.

The seductive pull of the unknown is something most wrestle with every day.

And so I pose this challenge to readers of this journal. Can you withstand the temptation of watching this innocent looking TV commercial?

I'll tell you outright of it's evil. The first watching is easy enough. There is no pain and perhaps even a laugh to be had. But as you try to continue with your daily life, you will find that it is quite impossible to get the jingle out of your head. Over and over it will replay in your thoughts pushing you the brink of near insanity, and just when you think you're free - You'll start singing it. To the annoyance of others at first, but soon they will want to kill you for your incessant warbling. There is no escape but to spread the word to others so you look less the fool for being stuck in your predicament. Surely misery loves company, and thats why I offer this Pandora's Box to you.

Are you strong enough to avoid its sexy lure?

If you are a hard working person like myself, you probably haven't been subjected to the horrors of this commercial. Then again, most who read my journal are on top of a story far faster than I ever am. This commercial contains a jingle penned by the devil himself upon the souls of innocents and thrice dipped in the seductive sweat of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and Tom Jones combined!

To those who watch I am sorry, but at least we won’t look as foolish when we're all singing.

It's no secret that I've been motivated lately. Amazingly motivated. Some people may even call it inspired. Others may call it unproven boastfulness, and to those people I say, “Shut the hell up!”

For years of my life, I have waited for the universe to provide for me. Waited for luck to shine upon me. Waited for God to heed my wish list like Santa. Sat alone in front of a TV or some such distraction and cursed under my breath at my own unhappy state - how I was deserving of more. I have lost friends and family not to feuds or fighting, but to apathy and laziness. I had been handed so much in life, why shouldn't it keep doling out the good stuff? I have been a bum in the cosmic universe, and when you panhandle in the same spot for years and years the universe stops the handouts and tells you to get a job. I’m embarrassed it took as long as it did for me to realize that, but the only way life is going to get any better – that a year can get any better – is if I make it better myself.

2007 was a banner year for me because I took initiative. I didn’t sit back and watch - I participated. I learned and explored and pushed my limits! I started college and proved that I focus and complete a goal that I had been afraid of. I’ve traveled the world and can add Scotland to my list life experience. I’ve learned film making from the ground up, and already have an award to my credit! I built and designed my own website and launched it myself!

If there’s a lesson I’ve learned that I can share with my friends from all of this, it’s best described by the lesson Bender learns at the end of the episode where he gets lost in space and meets the Binary God. “I’ve talked with god and he basically told me he ain’t gonna do jack! Come on, if we don’t save those monks no one will.” Whatever powers in the universe that you prescribe to won’t give you everything you want. So if you want a year of awesome things – you damn well make your own.

Q: How does it work?

A: I can’t answer that for you. It could be learning how to sky dive, reading a book you’ve wanted to read, purchasing a pair of candle sticks from C2 that you’re loved one wants desperately, auditioning for a show, or taking your pet for an extra long walk. An Awesome Thing© can not be specifically described by me, but an Awesome Thing© is something that makes you happy, and is out of the scope of your weekly routine.

A: To have done an Awesome Thing© you must have focused and decided to do the Awesome Thing, fully conscious of your actions. If you have to think back to all the stuff you’ve done during the week, you have not done an Awesome Thing©.

A: Anything you normally do weekly in your boring humdrum life. Sure, to one person singing in a nightclub is an Awesome Thing©, but if you’re a person who sings in a nightclub everyday as a full time job – then singing in a nightclub is not an Awesome Thing© for that person. Regardless if they love that job with all their might and it’s their dream come true, an Awesome Thing must be something different or done differently that you decide to do.

Also, the decision must be yours. You may hate roller coasters and your friend may drag you onto one, but even though you survive and have had fun in the end - that does not count as an Awesome Thing©. Deciding for yourself to overcome your fear and go onto that roller coaster is an Awesome Thing©.

Q: How much does this cost?

A: Nothing, unless your decision is to spend money.

Q: I’m busy person-about-town. I’ve no time for one Awesome Thing© each week. Can I do an Awesome Thing© every month or bi-monthly?

A: No. An Awesome Thing© is a decision made by you, and is something that will make you happy the moment of the decision. It takes as much or as little time as you want to put into it, and if you don’t want to proactively make your year a Year of Awesome Things© then don’t. Just don’t whine in 2009 about how terrible 2008 was when you sat around again and did nothing awesome.

Q: My Awesome Thing© turned out to be a terrible idea and cost me physically, spiritually, or mentally. Is it still an Awesome Thing©?

A: Sure it is. You may view your Awesome Thing© in hindsight as less than desirable, but the goal of The Year of Awesome Things© is to make memories and enrich your soul. Example: You decide to walk up a mountain path near where you live that you’ve wanted to explore. Walking up the mountain is hard, but you do it. Unfortunately it turns out it’s not a mountain path, but a dirt road that leads to a not-so-scenic fenced-off power transformer. As you walk back down the path you may grumble to yourself that it was a waste of your time, but it was still exploring the unknown and it taught you more about the area you live in. An Awesome Thing© may not always have a pleasant outcome, but it is always a proactive decision to do something that you want to do.

Q: Do you have a battery operated version for the lazy or spastic?

A: No.

A: I’ll believe everything you post because I’m trusting and gullible, but in the end you’re just lying to yourself and cheating yourself out of a lot of happiness. Jerk.

So there you have it. I challenge you all to participate. Make it a Year of Awesome Things. It’s not a resolution, it’s a focused new way of life.
